University Cup- Hardwood Hills, Barrie Ontario
For most people Sunday was a miserable day full of rain and the cold air didn’t help. The racers made the best of it, and the rain made the course a little bit more technical making the rocks and corners slippery, and the hills harder to climb. McMaster had a great showing with three podium finishers!
Starting in the Men’s A division, Mike Mayne had a strong finish in a field of very strong riders. Mike moved up to the A division for his favourite course, and while he felt it was really sloppy with all the mud he still had a great time.
In the Women’s A division we had two riders, and two medals! Annie Foreman-Mackey and Elyse Nieuwald pushed each other to finish 2
nd and 3
rd. Both loved the technical aspects of the course and appreciated the lower amount of climbing involved.
Finally in Men’s B division we had two riders both with strong finishes. Jacob Mitchell stayed consistent throughout the race posting very similar lap times. Christopher Rowley finished the day 2
nd after playing catch-up for most of the race.
Riders will enjoy thanksgiving weekend off to rest or train, and prepare for the last race of the series on October 16, in Ganaraska Forest!
