University Cup- Hardwood Hills, Barrie Ontario

For most people Sunday was a miserable day full of rain and the cold air didn’t help. The racers made the best of it, and the rain made the course a little bit more technical making the rocks and corners slippery, and the hills harder to climb. McMaster had a great showing with three podium finishers!

Starting in the Men’s A division, Mike Mayne had a strong finish in a field of very strong riders. Mike moved up to the A division for his favourite course, and while he felt it was really sloppy with all the mud he still had a great time.

In the Women’s A division we had two riders, and two medals! Annie Foreman-Mackey and Elyse Nieuwald pushed each other to finish 2nd and 3rd. Both loved the technical aspects of the course and appreciated the lower amount of climbing involved.

Finally in Men’s B division we had two riders both with strong finishes. Jacob Mitchell stayed consistent throughout the race posting very similar lap times. Christopher Rowley finished the day 2nd after playing catch-up for most of the race.

Riders will enjoy thanksgiving weekend off to rest or train, and prepare for the last race of the series on October 16, in Ganaraska Forest!
