WOMEN'S BASKETBALL GOES 1-2 AT UQAM TOURNAMENT

The McMaster women's basketball team fell 73-69 in their opening game of the UQAM tournament Wednesday afternoon to the Laval Rouge et Or. Taylor Chiarot (Hamilton, Ont.) led the Marauders with 19 points and six rebounds.  

Three other Marauders also scored in double figures. Hailey Milligan (Brampton, Ont.) scored 15 points with nine rebounds. Liz Burns (Hamilton, Ont.) added 12 points and seven rebounds. Isabel Ormond (Hamilton, Ont.) rounded out the top scorers with 11 points and six rebounds. 

Laval was led by Elyse Jobin's game high 26 points.  

The following day, the Marauders earned the win over the tournament hosts, UQAM. The 70-55 win for McMaster was lead by Burns with 18 points and five rebounds. Joining Burns with double digit numbers was also Jaklynn Nimec (Binbrook, Ont.) who scored another 12 for the Marauders. 

UQAM's high-scorer was Valerie Gauvin with 12 points. 

In McMaster's last exhibition game over the break, they were matched up with Acadia. Despite fighting hard all game long, the Marauders lost by just eight points to the Axemen with a 79-71 score. Three Marauders scored a game-high 17 points including Burns who added another seven rebounds, Milligan who grabbed eight rebounds and Chiarot. Point guard Vanessa Bonomo (Dundas, Ont.) also hit double-digits scoring 12. 

The Marauders are back in action Wednesday night in Windsor to take on the Lancers at 6:00 p.m.
