The McMaster women's volleyball team headed south to Florida to compete at the Innisbrook University/College Volleyball Invitational Tournament. Other Canadian teams participating in the event included OUA counterparts, the York Lions, Humber College, Nipissing University, the University of Manitoba and the University of Moncton.
On Wednesday December 28, the Marauders lost out do the strong Manitoba squad in three straight. Set scores were 25-22, 25-14, 25-12.
The following day, McMaster was matched up with Moncton. The Marauders prevailed in the four set match, earning their first win of the break with set scores of 25-18, 20-25, 25-20, 25-19.
The last day of pool play saw the Marauders take on Nipissing. The game was stretched into five sets with McMaster coming out on top. 25-10, 25-22, 25-19, 26-24, 15-12.
On New Years Eve, the Marauders played their last game of the week with a rematch against Nipissing for the bronze. Nipissing took the game to five sets, but the Marauders were too much for them in the fifth set as McMaster earned the medal. Set scores for the match were 20-25, 25-22, 25-20, 18-25, 15-7. The York Lions would take home the gold in a four-set match over Humber.
McMaster's lone tournament all-star was Kailee Stock (Newmarket, Ont.).
