The Vanier Cup Champion McMaster Marauders will be well represented at the 2012 CFL evaluation camp being held March 2-4, 2012 in Toronto. Three members of the Marauders’ explosive attack have been invited to take part in what is an annual audition for draft-eligible players in front of staff from the eight CFL teams.
Invited to participate are quarterback
Kyle Quinlan, receiver
Brad Fochesato, and offensive guard
Jason Medeiros.
Kyle Quinlan, from South Woodslee, Ontario was the 2011 OUA first-team all-star quarterback and was named a second-team All-Canadian. He capped off a tremendous year by being named the game MVP at each stage of McMaster’s post-season run, including the Yates Cup, Uteck Bowl, and Vanier Cup victories.
Jason Medeiros, from Hamilton, Ontario, was named a first-team OUA all-star and second-team All-Canadian in 2011. He was a member of Canada’s senior national team that finished as runner-up to the USA in the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Senior World Championship that was held in Austria in July of 2011.
Brad Fochesato, from Windsor, Ontario emerged this season as a key part of a talented Marauder receiving corps. In eight league games, Fochesato caught 19 passes for 501 yards, averaging over 26 yards per catch and scoring three touchdowns. In the playoffs, he elevated his game by making 16 catches for 394 yards, a 24-yard per catch average and scoring four touchdowns in four games. He was the CIS offensive player of the week for his performance in McMaster’s 45-21 Uteck Bowl win over Acadia.
“Kyle and Jason have been two of the best pro prospects in CIS football for a couple of years,” commented Marauder Coach Stef Ptaszek. “Brad played his best football of the year on national television in our last three games and earned his invitation to the E-Camp. All three of these young men will represent the McMaster program very well.”
The CFL draft will take place in May of 2012, with the specific date still to be confirmed.
