McMaster’s Department of Athletics and Recreation is disappointed to announce that Women’s Basketball Head Coach Theresa Burns will not be on the bench tonight for her team’s quarter-final playoff game with Western University due to a serious concussion, suffered this past weekend while playing hockey.
“Theresa has been advised by one of our sport medicine physicians to stay at home and rest, and to not coach tonight,” commented Jeff Giles, Director of Athletics and Recreation. “I know not being with her team will be very difficult, and it is not a decision that was taken lightly, but it is in Theresa’s best interest.”
“While I’m very disappointed that I won’t be there tonight, I have full confidence that Anne Marie Thuss and Ed Grosel will provide the team with the coaching and leadership it needs,” Coach Burns said. “I’m also confident that the players are in a very good position after
Saturday’s outstanding game, to build on that success and move forward with a big win tonight.”
The Marauders vs. Mustangs OUA first round playoff game will tip-off in McMaster’s Burridge Gym at 6 p.m. tonight.
