MCDONALD AND BEATTY NAMED PITA PIT ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Justin Beatty

The third-year midfielder was the catalyst on Sunday, as the Marauders avenged an earlier loss to the Nipissing Lakers with a 12-9 win at Alumni Field. Beatty had a game-high five goals to lead his team to its second consecutive win after opening the season 0-3. Facing a potent Nipissing team that boasted two of the CUFLA's top five scorers entering play, Beatty and his teammates out-dueled the Lakers to remain unbeaten at home this season.

Maddy McDonald

McDonald resumed her role as the Marauders low scorer on Saturday, as McMaster opened their 2014 cross country campaign at the Western International. The third-year runner finished fourth to score first for the Marauders and pace the team to a bronze medal in the overall standings. Her result ranked among the program's top-10 all-time results at the event, which McMaster has competed in each year -- except for two -- since 1986. The women's team bronze was the program's sixth podium finish over that same period.
