Darlington and Boiago Named Pita Pit Athletes of the Week

Connor Darlington

Ensuring that his final cross country race as a Marauder would be one to remember, Connor Darlington entered McMaster's history books Saturday. The senior runner posted the best result of his career to complete the 10km course at the U Sports Championships in 30:57.9, easily earning a bronze medal and finishing just a tenth of a second out of silver.

Darlington's medal was just the third ever earned by a McMaster man at the national event, and the first since 1978. He was the first OUA runner to cross the finish line, and was recognized as a First Team All-Canadian for his top-seven position. His accomplishment helped McMaster to a fourth place finish as a team.

Danielle Boiago

Opening her last season in maroon with a bang, Danielle Boiago put her game on display for the Burridge Gym crowd this past weekend.

The McMaster guard set a new single-game high on Friday, pouring in 31 points in the Marauders 63-58 win over the Lakehead Thunderwolves, converting on 11 of 20 attempts from the field and two of three from three-point range. She completed a double double with 10 rebounds, and added five assists and three steals.

A more balanced offensive effort from McMaster in the second game of the weekend saw Boiago put up 13 points and once again complete the double double with 10 rebounds.
